To Cherish has been working on their sound for four years in the great white north of Canada - Staggered by multiple lineup changes and challenged by a overly saturated metal-core market, To Cherish made some necessary changes. After releasing a couple of two song demos (The Hickory Beach EP & How to Live Forever) in the first half of 2008, they sat down to write In Sickness & In Health.
Playing a style of music that spans from Modern Life is War to Norma Jean, from This is Hell to Breather Resist, there shouldn’t be a single heavy music fan that can’t find something to love in their sound. As an introduction to the new line-up and the new sound To Cherish aspired to achieve, they teamed up with Engineer / Producer, Derek Hoffman (Brighter, Brightest) to write and record In Sickness & In Health. The band had additional assistance from Dead and Divine singer Matt Tobin who laid down guest vocals for “In Health”.
As a whole, this record contains some of the most powerful hardcore/metal songs offered up in some time but they’ve remained one of Canada’s best kept secrets without having the funds to tour in the US. Their new EP "In Sickness & In Health" looks to change all of that, featuring a mix of old songs that To Cherish has been performing live throughout the last year and new songs that have been written since their lineup has solidified. The record is tied up at the end by a nearly eight minute long epic, yet energy filled “Purgatory”.
To Cherish have plans to record a new record for release in early 2010, as well as plans to tour North America extensively in the coming months. Keep your eyes out and look for them on tour all year long. Read more on Last.fm.
