Stephen Bishop, born November 14, 1951, in San Diego, California, is an American singer and guitarist. He achieved major success in 1977 with the song "On and On." Other notable songs include "Save It for a Rainy Day," "Everybody Needs Love," and "It Might Be You," which was the theme for the movie Tootsie. Bishop has performed several movie themes, including the theme for National Lampoon's Animal House, where he sang in a falsetto voice. He also made a cameo appearance in the film as a folk singer whose guitar is smashed by John Belushi; Bishop reportedly kept the damaged guitar as a memento. He appeared shortly after in another John Landis film, The Blues Brothers, playing a character referred to as the "charming trooper" who breaks his watch during a mall chase scene. Bishop's song "Separate Lives," featured in the movie White Nights, was nominated for an Academy Award in 1985 but did not win, losing to "Say You, Say Me" from the same film.
