Known for a dramatic shift from trading/travel to intense solitude by the River Wear, Godric also occupies a special niche in music history: a small group of early songs is traditionally attributed to him, and at least one survives with notated melody in manuscript transmission—such as Sancte Marie, virgine, preserved on GB-Cul Mm.iv.28, f.149r as presented via DIAMM. Read more on Last.fm.
