Biography

Mohsen Sharifian is a Southern Iranian Folk-Jazz musician born in Bushehr in 1975. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (in the field of research). As music is hereditary in his family from generation to generation, he seriously started playing local musical instruments of Boushehr like Ney-Anban and Ney-Jufti in 1992. Mohsen Sharifian is a Southern Iranian Folk-Jazz musician born in Bushehr in 1975. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (in the field of research). As music is hereditary in his family from generation to generation, he seriously started playing local musical instruments of Boushehr like Ney-Anban and Ney-Jufti in 1992. In 1993 he established the music band, "Lian", through which he has started his professional activities in this field. He started his research about the Iranian southern music by publishing his first paper in "Aaineh ye Jonob" (The South Mirror) weekly magazine in 1995. So far he has published numerous articles. His published books have been decorated as THE BEST RESEARCH five times, some of which are "The Terrestrial (AHLEH ZAMIN), Music and Delusions of Khark Island" (Ghalam Ashna Publishing Co., 2002 & 2006); the book and audio CD of "The Mournful (AHLEH MATAM), Calls and Mourning Ceremonies in Boushehr" (Dirin Publishing Co., 2004 & 2006); the book and visual multimedia of "Music Instrumentalist (AHLEH SAZZ) , Musical and Instrumental Research of Boushehr" (Cultural Heritage Organization Publishing Co., 2005)and the last on by the name of Silence Braves(A book about RaisAli Delvari publish in 2009). Of his individual musical works, some have been officially published including an instrumental music of southern Iran called "LIANA" (Payam Cassette, 1997); a vocal music called "SHAP" (Payam Cassette, 2000); "BANDARI" (Khaneh Honar Parvaz, 2002); "MODJ" (Soroosh, 2004); "SIRAAF" (Soroosh, 2008) KHAYAM KHANI (Mahoor Ins.) and the newest which has published recently by the name of "MAHALEYE KHOMOONI"(Payam Cassette). The New Album that will be available soon is “Paro Pirar (Hozeye Honari). Mohsen Sharifian has also played and sung in different cassettes such as "IRAN ZAMIN", "ZOLJENAH", "AROOSI GHAM", and "SHADBASH". He has also produced the sound tracks of the documentary "SAHELE SORKH" (The Red Shore), the film "ECD" (in collaboration with Mr. Babak Shahraki), "ROOZI MESLE HAR ROOZ" (A Day Like Everyday), and "YADHA, BOOSEHA VA KHANJARHA" (Memories, Kisses and Daggers). In music festivals, he has been awarded seven FIRST TITLES for solo, and his works have been chosen three times as the ELECTED WORKS. He won the BEST MUSIC trophy in the "Music and Handicrafts" festival in Istanbul (2003) and along with the LIAN Group he was selected as the ELECTED GROUP in "CHUNG HOO" festival, in the Second International Music Festival in Turkmenistan (2008), and in Iranian trans-festival of university students (Sanandaj, 2006).
