Epitomes were a post-hardcore band from Huskisson, New South Wales, Australia. The four-piece consisted of vocalist Vance Nebauer, bassist Brad Nielsen, guitarist Cameron Smith and drummer Joel Kingston. The band were especially known for their unique sound, which blended indie, hardcore and first-wave emo, in addition to their DIY attitude and passionate live performances.
The band released their debut release, a self-titled five-track demo, in November 2008. There were only one hundred copies made. It is now sold out. The band also completed an untitled three-track EP, which was again released independently. In mid-2009, the band announced they would disband following three final shows - one with Wollongong hardcore band Mary Jane Kelly, and two with Grand Rapids post-hardcore band La Dispute.
Nebauer went on to briefly being the vocalist in the band Rainmaker before taking a hiatus from music. Smith is now the guitarist and vocalist in Yetis and lead vocalist in Mowgli. Nielsen now plays bass in Melbourne pop-punk band Up and Atom, while Kingston went on to play drums for Sydney bands Zita Grimm and ACHE. Read more on Last.fm.
