Zero Idea is the solo project of Benji Fales, serving as a custodian of the past and curator for the future. Based in the sanctified streets of San Francisco, Zero Idea is a producer and DJ blurring the lines between reverence for tradition and the pursuit of innovation. Inspired by the American & UK House and Techno scenes of an earlier era--rooted in the philosophy that music should be experienced, not just heard. Zero Idea's ability to capture the verve of his audiences has established him as an esteemed, and influential member of both the San Francisco, and larger American techno underground, resulting in a monthly residency on the distinguished independent radio station - HydeFM, and a prominent role as a resident DJ in the Vitamin1000 Energy Crew, a pacesetter in San Francisco’s electronic dance music community. His productions marry infectious funk grooves, and the hypnotic-sensibility of classic house and techno. Just like curating music, the production of it is his way of honoring the past and contributing to the present. Through an abundance of prolific self-releases and label releases, Zero Idea has earned his spot alongside the brightest newcomers in the underground techno scene. With DJ support from some of electronic music’s biggest names - Ben Sims, Dave Clarke, MoMa Ready, and salute; his productions are dance-floor approved, described as both “incisive, shapeshifting” and “viciously mechanical” (White Crate). Read more on Last.fm.
