Not much accurate information is available about Ms. Zella Jackson Price. Most of what is known about her is included in the documentary, "Say Amen, Somebody", an early 1980's look at the evolution of African-American gospel music. She is, according to that documentary, regarded as a pioneer in the evolution of the genre. Her recorded input in African-American gospel music includes most-notably the song, "I'm Happy To Know I'm His Child", a call-and-answer gospel tune, highly recognized as one of the earliest gospel recorded songs. The most notable popularity of the song is in its inclusion during the HBO film production of "Angels in America". The song is an important element of one of the film's most pivotal scenes.
