"Emotionally raw lyrics. Immense choruses. Turbulent indie-rockers Wolventrix are definitely ones to watch." NME.COM (UK)
Wolventrix from London/UK sing of lust, longing, life in a bubble and underwater parties. Swerving from passages of hushed, harmony-laden beauty to passion-filled crescendos, their imaginative sound encompasses acoustic storytelling, indie-rock and deft flashes of electronica.
The band met and started writing whilst studying in Oxford. Following various stints in Vienna, Khartoum, Milan and Montpellier, Tom Walkden (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Alex Billig (backing vocals and piano), Chris Potter (lead guitar), Tristan Gilchrist (drums) and Tony Creaton (bass guitar) had all moved to London by 2006.
Wolventrix signed to Vienna’s Fabrique Records in 2007 and released The Berlin EP with producer Arnold Kasar (Atomhockey, Nylon). Remixes by Spoonface, Konsorten TM and Kava of their song Wings were enthusiastically received with airplay in the UK and indie-stations around Europe.
2011 sees the band present their debut album Ours Till Dawn (to be released in Summer 2011) is produced by Vienna’s Victor Gangl and evokes moods ranging from playful irreverence to soulful reflection. A double A-side digital single release featuring Electrical Storm, Sham White Wedding and an imaginative Mauracher remix isl available on iTunes and all other online platforms now. Read more on Last.fm.
