In 1998 in London the meeting between the Australian singer guitarist Ken Low, Canadian bassist Colleen Browne (ex-Pale Saints and Warm Jets) and the French percussionist Jean Marc Butty (he collaborated with PJ Harvey and Department of Crooks) led to the emergence of White Hotel. With the release of their debut in 1999, the album ' First Water ' (Piao!), it was immediately clear that this international trio had delivered a particular album. Ken Low told with dark, smokey voice stories full of drama, tension, fatalism, on the self-side of society. Combined with sparse accompaniment the music of White Hotel is slowcore punctuated with slow sultry sounding rock, voodoo and big city blues. It didn't take long, unfortunately in 2001 it went quiet around White Hotel and it left only the album ' First Water ' as a reminder. Read more on Last.fm.
