Vivian's "singing" career began at the age of four, as for the first time she sang in the gospel choir of the familiy's own baptist church. From this moment on, she was always called up to sing a solo every Sunday morning. At the age of 12 she was singing with friends in a rap group. At the age of 19 she became the female vocalist of a rap and R&B group. Her father – Vance Kelly – then took her under his wings into the blues scenery in the year of 1997. From now on, Vivian performed with him 5-6 times per week in the blues clubs of Chicago and the Chicago land area, as well as in different other states. Thru this, she could enormously broaden her existing knowledge about singing and stage performance. With the help of her fahter, Vivian was able to acquire a steady growing fan community and her name grew exceedingly throughout the Chicago land area. In the year 2000, Vivian went for the first time on european tour with her father, which filled every audience with enthusiasm! (view press articles). And also in Europe, most people said: „She got a huge voice for such a small body!“ Not only is Vivian Vance Kelly a great singer, but also a as well talented songwriter. Back in 1995 she wrote four songs, 2 by herself + 2 with her father, for his second CD titled „Joyriding the subway“. On this CD, she also sang background. She was indeed nominated for best songwriter in 1999 at the Chicago Blues Awards, hosted by Koko Taylor. To underline her musical versatility, she recorded a R&B CD in 2003 with „Warbound Records“. She wrote all the lyrics to the songs inwith one day...
