Victims of Science a.k.a. GXP, was a video game remix artist on Tindeck, LastFM and, MySpace, best known for producing the song "The Device has been Modified" based off of Valve's Portal. While GXP originally made the song as a joke, after seeing its success, he decided to give the song some more polish and finish it properly, releasing a second version. On the Facepunch forum, he said, "I'm surprised at the warm reception of what basically started as a joke, but projects seem to take on a life of their own. I'm glad people seem to like it and it sucks that people encountered problems with playback. I usually encode mp3s as Lame VBR for better quality but that seems to have backfired on some people. A while ago I spent the time to put in the effort polishing/finishing it that I should have originally. Plus it's CBR so, no playback problems." Other songs by GXP include a remix of "Man of Constant Sorrow" by the Soggy Bottom Boys from the 2001 movie "O Brother Where Art Thou", another video game remix albeit this time based off of S.T.A.L.K.E.R., as well as a few miscellaneous instrumental tracks and remixes. As the years went on, various sites would deprecate their MP3-sharing functionality or go defunct completely, leaving most of these songs as lost media. Fortunately, most if not all of them have been tracked down by indie rap artist NSASS and the Forgotten Music Archive and compiled into an ultimate collection of Victims of Science's songs, preserving them indefinitely on YouTube, SoundCloud, and Internet Archive. Read more on Last.fm.
