Venray is a power duo from Washington, DC. Alternatively labeled as “surf-grunge” or “garage-punk”, venray’s sound has been described as “catchy af”. The duo is characterized by their sing-along melodies, giant hooks, and high energy, dynamic live performances, with songs ranging from breezy ballads to crunchy rippers that will appeal to fans of Pile, Car Seat Headrest, Wavves, and Top Nachos. Venray first exploded onto the scene after the November 2017 release of their self-produced EP ‘Nobody’s Listening’. The following year saw the duo playing a steady stream of live shows and releasing another self-produced EP ‘Product Of The U.S.A.’ in June, quickly cementing them as a staple of the DC rock scene. 2019 followed with a heavy performance schedule and the band expanding their reach with shows in cities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region including Baltimore, Annapolis, and NYC, and opening for national touring acts including Le Butcherettes, Uni, Rivals, and The Advertisers. The year also saw the band up its production value, releasing two sets of professionally produced singles. The first, ‘Fire Away/It’s Alright, It’s Okay’, was recorded with Drew Lambert and released in February. The second, ‘Fix Your Head/Same Road’ was recorded with Don Godwin (Priests, Flasher, Gauche), and released in October. In 2020, the band released the single and video ‘No Place’ in March, once again recorded with Don Godwin, and a self-produced cover of The Cars classic ‘Drive’ in May, both mastered by Jesse Cannon at Sound Foundations. Venray's new EP '20/20' is available December 4, 2020 Read more on Last.fm.
