Vax Lavala is a defunct funky, jazzy, progressive rock outfit from a small town outside of Spokane, WA called Cheney. They all hated it there. When it came time to go to college, the band members all went to different parts of the northwest, for the most part. Adam Brock took lead guitar and vocal duties. Max Shellabarger took a more rythmic approach to his guitar duties. Alan Crow played bass. Vinnie Nickoloff drummed. John Weisgerber played bass trombone, and Blake played saxophone. This is what their MySpace says about the band: "Approximately 6'2" with no hair, manly muscles, and no known facial features due to a fettish for brimmed hats, Vax is the only alien we know of. Our band, named after the man himself, is merely a tool used by Vax to try and save this world from the clutches of formulaic pop music and other musical monstrocities. Although usually shy and reserved, Vax is unusually intense when teaching us his music and how he wants it to be played and sometimes can become quite angry. Just ask Alan about the corallation between playing out of tune and the large bruises on his elbow. Not much is known about Vax's past. He doesn't like to talk about where he came from very much, although lyrics to some songs tell of his many adventures and of his political beliefs. His music reflects that desire for something new and exciting.
