To the Sea started in Seattle by friends who grew up together in Moses Lake, Washington (perhaps giving rise to the name) in about 2008, becoming part of the growing scene of melodic and intelligent rock music, subtler and more sophisticated than the grunge Seattle is known for, but still full of energy and intensity. The band consists of Danny Payne (vocals, guitar, keys), Jon Fickes (vocals, guitar, keys, harmonica), Brandon Smith (guitar, keys), George Samaras (bass, keys, glockenspiel) and Kyle Kamrath (drums) -- yes, three guitarists and two singers.
