The Weakend was an alternative rock band hailing from Sterling Heights, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. They were signed to Ohio based label, Silent Movie Records. They have shared the stage with many reputable bands, including Motion City Soundtrack, Fall Out Boy, The Academy Is..., Cartel, Chiodos, Mxpx, The Fall of Troy and many more. The band was formed in 2003 and over the years had a good local following and played many shows with other local Michigan and Ohio bands. In 2004 they released "How Everyone Ruins Everything, and Vice Versa", an EP that gained great press and reviews from AbsolutePunk.net and Alternative Press magazine. They were said to be the "Next Big Thing" of pop-punk. The Weakend tried to record a full length, but the demos did not turn out to be as they wanted and after tireless efforts, many failed record label offers, lack of money and band members wanting to pursue other things, the band sadly split up in 2008. This was a huge disappointment to the fans of the local Michigan scene, for they were one of the most popular bands at the time. Andrew, the lead singer, wrote in a breakup statement, "I blame bad timing, bad luck, a bad economy, and bad judgment for the downfall of The Weakend." Their last show was in November of 2008, with local favorites Fordirelifesake, who were also playing their last show. The band also released their EP "Tornado Days" on that day and sold it at the show.
