The Pennys were an Australian folk/roots band, originally formed in Mittagong, New South Wales in 2008 as a project between vocalist/guitarist Sam Hemmings and harmonica player/backing vocalist Scott Hammerton. The project was originally a two piece called LemonTree, before expanding into a full-band project and relocating to Wollongong. Several members moved in and out of the collective, with Hemmings and Hammerton the two mainstays. Members included drummers Ben Livermore and Ben Davies, pianist/keyboardist Joshua Craig, double bassists John Wynne and Lachlan Wood and lead guitarist Phil Walker. The band parted ways in 2013 following the departure of Hammerton and Walker from the fold. Hemmings now plays solo under the moniker Redfoot. Read more on Last.fm.
