John Congleton and Jason Garner of The Paper Chase have teamed up with some good friends to form a new band called The Nighty Nite. Joining them are members of Wires Under Tension (Chris Tignor), Shearwater (Kevin Schneider), and the Hospital Ships (Jordan Geiger). The band's debut EP Dimples is set for release on June 21st via Graveface and sounds like the soundtrack to a tragic black comedy, as if Woody Allen made a horror movie about a punk rock band. The four songs on The Nighty Nite's Dimples EP echo and marry John Cale's sardonic mix of pop/orchestra/skronk and the atmospheric doom of late-period Scott Walker. "Some people have told me it's the darkest thing I've ever done", says Congleton.
