There are at least six groups called The Crescendos.
Please not that there is also a 1960s garage beat band from Whanganui, New Zealand, whose name is often "incorrectly corrected" into The Crescendos. They were actually called The Cresendos. Please scrobble accordingly.
1. a 1960s band from New Jersey, NJ, United States
2. a 1960s band from the United Kingdom
3. a 1960s rock band from Germany
4. a band from Nashville, TN, United States, formed in 1957
5. an early rock 'n roll band from Singapore that was popular in The Netherlands
Some more information on some of these bands...
1. The Crescendos, a New Jersey Band, recorded "A Fellow Needs a Girl" by Rogers and Hammerstein and an original song "Wild Cat", which was initially labeled "Black Cat" but changed. The song "Wild Cat" was a minor hit in LA along with a "A Fellow Needs a Girl". Both songs had air-play from WNJR, Newark, NJ by Danny Stiles, the Kat Man. The band consisted of 5 members; Tony Petronella (Sax & Vocal), Frankie Knox (Accorgan & Lead Vocals), Sal Luizza (Lead Guitar & Vocal), Tony Menichino (Standup Bass & Vocal) and Joe Pazsik (drums). The band played in the late 50s, early 60s. Their ages ranged from 12 to 17 years old. Frankie Knox, Tony Petronella and Sal Luizza were born in Newark, NJ.
5. The Crescendos were an early 1960s rock 'n roll band from Singapore, fronted by Susan Lim. They were the first band from Singapore to land an international recording contract, with the Philips record label in The Netherlands to be precise. This explains why The Crescendos gained some prominence in The Netherlands: their mixture of American rock 'n roll and Asian influences happened to be the the sound of the moment in The Netherlands, where early rock 'n roll was dominated by boys from the former Dutch colony of Indonesia. The Crescendos from Singapore were seen by many Dutch youngsters as one of their own 'Indorock' groups, which in fact they weren't. Best known single: 'Mr. Twister'. Read more on Last.fm.
