(The) Ballad Bombs (also Ballad Bombs) are currently working on their new album, to be released in 2010. The new Ballad Bombs sound on their 2nd album, “The Beautiful and Damned” is predicted to be less pop and 80s and more electronic. Plan is to bring in post punk, shoegaze, and fresh electronic/ indie-tronic influences only to frankly mash-up this with crazed 70s glam rock guitars and stuff (Bowie, T Rex, early Queen, Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, Eno,…)
The original Ballad bombs started in Goettingen/ Germany in 1987 as a band of New Wave kids & Post Punks, often referred to as "Edel-Punker" or "Fraggels" in those days....
2 members of BB, Stephan and AJ had been in THE FYNECRY before with Oli Lothwesen (drums), Rainer Nagel (guitars), Frank Voss (synths, backing vocals) and Ilona (synths, backing vocals). The Fynecry have released a 12" It's Not The Time (b/w Do it). They recorded a few tracks in the middle 80s, such as "All I Need" which they later recorded properly in UK studios and released them on Ballad Bombs' first album "And Then We Danced". They combined new wave, synth pop, post-punk, shoegaze and dark wave with elements of glam and drama pop. They played 50 gigs mainly in Germany. "And The We Danced" was remastered and rereleased in January 2007.
The band practically never split up and they are now working again on new songs and plan to release a second album "The Beautiful And Damned", so named after band guitar player and signer AJ's favourite writer Scott F Fitzgerald's novel, in mid or late 2009.
