Fourscore (or Four Score, depending on which label you're looking at) was written by Lord David Dundas for the launch of Channel 4 in November 1982.
Channel 4 opened with the contracted, jingle version of Fourscore and following Paul Coia's introduction this (four minute long) piece of music accompanied a video setting out Channel 4's agenda as the first launch broadcast on the station.
The Airwave Orchestra are credited with this version, shown at the start of broadcasting and with the version released (by Polydor) on 7" single's A-side. Later recordings (at varying lengths) were produced some time after the original was recorded as space fillers for the channel and are not this original recording.
The 'Airwave Orchestra' are not known to have recorded further pieces however Lord David Dundas' is responsible for some other work including:
1971 - Private road (with others)
1983 - TV-am's Daybreak (not to be confused with Jeff Wayne's Good Morning Britain theme or the later ITV Daybreak)
1987 - Withnail and I, original score
and a few other ITV rebranding exercises.
