Stylites started out as the solo musical venture of Samuel Drower back in 2006, making purely electronic orientated compositions, but the sound and style quickly evolved to become more organic and guitar based. The name 'Stylites' descends from the Greek word 'style', meaning pillar. The Stylites, also known as Pillar Saints, were solitaries who, taking up their abode upon the tops of pillars, chose to spend their days amid the restraints thus entailed and in the exercise of other forms of asceticism. Contrast to the extreme austerity that they demanded of themselves, their preaching conveyed temperance and compassion. This fanatical yet passionate and ultimately good natured approach to one way of life is exactly how i feel about the music i make, and music in general - And that's why i've decided to assume the alias of Stylites, rather than make music by my real name.
