It has been described as very dark, middle-eastern-techno-death-metal and vaguely likened to Skinny Puppy, Front242 and Nine Inch Nails. Manned by designer Nick Dachris, economist Nikos Pavlis and musicologist Zoe Dachris, Starcry has recorded four albums for Nick Dachris's Cockroach Studio: Ideal Husband (recorded in 2001, released in 2002), One Night Stand (recorded in 2004, released in 2006) <a href="https://www.last.fm/mu...Read more on Last.fm

Starcry is a Greek, electro-goth / industrial group, going since 1990. It has been described as very dark, middle-eastern-techno-death-metal and vaguely likened to Skinny Puppy, Front242 and Nine Inch Nails. Manned by designer Nick Dachris, economist Nikos Pavlis and musicologist Zoe Dachris, Starcry has recorded four albums for Nick Dachris's Cockroach Studio: Ideal Husband (recorded in 2001, released in 2002), One Night Stand (recorded in 2004, released in 2006), The Giaour Project (recorded and uploaded in 2005) and Syphilisation (recorded in 2007-2008, released in 2008). Starcry was a doom-rock band when it started out in Karditsa, a town in the flat midlands of Greece, influenced by Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Fields of the Nephilim, Paradise Lost and Death. The band split up in 1994 and they have been using electronics to record and exchange ideas with each other since 1996. The band went on composing and changing members and paths, scattered between Greece, England and Bulgaria for a few years. Then, in 2001 Nick Dachris opened his own creative studio in Athens and invested in basic music production along his graphics software and equipment, so creating Cockroach Studio. In the meantime, on-line music shareware gave electro-industrial and synth-pop a boost that resulted in a whole new market standard, defining a genre that Starcry found convenient to commune with. Despite a 20 year long history and some good reviews, Starcry, the band, has failed to make any engagement with the music market, whatsoever. A few years back, a video game module with the same name appeared and Starcry's members found themselves confronted with a virtual-violence audience. When Syphilisation was being painstakingly released, in 2008, all hell broke loose in the whereabouts of Mr Dachris's home-studio, echoing and drowning Starcry's efforts in a chaotic, nightmare scenario, come true. In the band's own self-definition, what Starcry stands for, "...comes from the dark sensuality of that miracle of balance between life and death which is existence; it represents the human power to commune and communicate with our consciousness and with each other, our inability to better the world, our failure to wield the universe; it aims at that level of psychic and corporeal liberation that is experienced in trances, so to present a prolonged orgasmic state of nirvana or peace of mind. Fairly obscure. A psychosis of some sort...". Read more on Last.fm.
