Spirit Assembly is an incredibly influential, although not well-known, emotional hardcore band from Lancaster, Pa. They were an important figure in the central Pennsylvania and southeast firehall [VFW hall]/basement scene, sharing the stage with bands ranging from Frail and The Bouncing Souls.
The lineup included: Sam Stansbery, Dru Martin and Zachary "Gus" Martin, although an early formation of Spirit Assembly was a four-piece, the voice of the original singer can be heard on early recordings.
They have several vinyl releases --
Fruit of Hate 7" - Motherbox Records #1, Side A: Mouse holes Side B: Deteriornation
Old Joe The Eternal 7" (1994) - Released on Ancestry and Mother Box, Side A: Pop Acculteration, Side B: It Wasn't Me, Equinox (the only release by the original 4-piece)
Spirit Assembly/Car vs Driver Split 7" (1995) - Released as Yuletide #2, Side A: Ingestion, In Order to Visualize
Welcome to Lancaster County 12" (1996) - Yuletide #5, Side A: Simple Transaction, Continuity W/Out Question, Nameless, Convention Invention, Side B: Self-Appointed Outcast, Pop Acculturation, Manmade, Stain
Spirit Assembly toured extensively throughout the US. Any bands labeled as "screamo" owe much credit to Spirit Assembly whether they know it or not.
Performing, they looked like 3 crazed Amish men with their long beards. They are the original Amishcore band.

Can't say much about them but since there was NOTHING here, I'd at least put something, since I actually listened to them in the 90's.
I remembered them sounding more like a mix of Evergreen, Christie Front Drive, but with a lot more angst. After hearing them again for the 1st time in nearly 20 years I'd have to say they are quite a bit more chaotic than I remembered! Still great stuff, though... Read more on Last.fm.
