The Souls of Fire is a set of young artists from the city of Porto, Portugal. Influenced by names such as Burning Spear, Gladiators and Steel Pulse, the Souls of Fire represent the new generation of Portuguese roots reggae . Although the band has only been around for a short time, Souls of Fire already performed at several concerts. Souls of Fire was also the name of a now defunct mid 90's British folk band based in Southampton,UK who played a mix of 'Klezmer' (Jewish dance music) & other similar pieces of music with a vigour that has been variously described as 'klezmer-roots-worldbeat-dance', 'tribal Jewish funk' or 'Yiddish folk rock' Surprisingly none of the members were Jewish. Discs included a short CD 'Bite Size'1995 & 'Firedancing'1998 Both released on the Melting Pot label.
