Formed in 1997, skin contact grew out of founder Kevin Breidenbach's interest in both electronic music & computers. Early works were influenced heavily by the EBM & industrial dance music of the 90's, as well as other forms of electronic music. Over time, the sound of SC has evolved to include elements of IDM, drum & bass, noise, and rhythmic industrial music to form a unique blend of dark electronics. Recent releases have been well-received by the underground press, being described as “meticulously sculpted”, “expertly engineered”, and “intelligent”. In addition to SC, Kevin has another solo electronic project called Fugue State, which leans more towards the ambient/experimental/IDM side of things. Both projects are credited with a number of remixes. He has also been involved with two collaborative projects- Cogitate, with Rick Bakos of Gross National Produkt (3 tracks were recorded in 2001 & released online); and Krushed Opiates, with D. Smith & Al Warr.
