Reflescent Tide (Jeff Wiess (vocals, guitar), Brian Oates (bass), Jon-Paul LeClair (drums)) got together on the campus of the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in 1992. They put out two independent albums (And I Pray and Rust) under their original band name, Thorn Crown. After their song World Gone Black was included on a R.E.X music sampler of unsigned bands, they received air play in several Christian rock radio markets. After they received word that their song was reaching the #1 spot on certain count downs, they were encouraged to start shopping around for a label. They caught the ear of Rugged Records out of California and signed a record deal in 1995. They recorded their first self titled CD at Dino M. III studios in Torrance, Ca. A few songs reached top 10 rankings in Christian rock and modern rock charts and also garnered favorable reviews in magazines such as HM. They went on and recorded a second album, Spring Catalog in 1996 in Knoxville, TN at Lakeside Studios with Travis Wyrick. That CD is very rare as the industry was going through some upheavals and a large quantity was apparently lost (or so that's what the band was told). A limited number of CD's also included a comic book featuring the members of the band as super heroes. A video for the single, Leaving, was also shot while recording (can be found on YouTube). Shortly after Spring Catalog the band broke up in 1997 due to lack of support from the record label and the difficulties of holding down jobs and starting families. Currently, members are still active musically; Jeff Weiss has enjoyed a solo career producing two of his own CD's and tour with Eli Stone and Mitch McVicker, Brian Oates and Jon-Paul LeClair both play in a blues/rock cover band.
