There are at least three bands named Redivider! 1. An electronic musician residing in San Francisco, California. Originally from the Boston area, Robert Baker has been working under the moniker "redivider" since 2002. 2. an experimental band from Chicago, Illinois, United States 3. a 60s/70s influenced guitar band from Amsterdam, The Netherlands (1997-2001) 1. The American Redivider has three band members: Emily Chimiak, Trevor Teich and Clifton Izui. On their MySpace page the band cites Animal Collective, Autechre, Beck, Grizzly Bear, The Knife, Portishead and Radiohead as some of its influences. The digital, four song Redivider EP was released in early 2010. In Redivider's own words: "We are three individuals who, despite our idiosyncrasies and superficial differences in taste, share a passion for making music—and then tweaking it to death—and then back to life again. "Emily, singer, songwriter, and violinist, has an uncanny gift for composing and harmonizing with ease, no matter what convoluted musical structures we throw at her. She enjoys traveling to other dimensions on her days off and smuggling spices back to her home world. "Trevor, guitarist/producer/engineer and general taskmaster, keeps things from going too far off the rails through his demanding creative vision, and would also like to grow up to be a robot one day. "Clif, keyboards, producer, and beat master, listens to music in his dreams and then scrambles around desperately trying not to forget it when he wakes up." 2. The Dutch Redivider was a guitar band from Amsterdam, consisting of Diederik Nomden (guitars, keyboards, vocals), Ralph Mulder (guitars, vocals), David Corel (bass, vocals), Leonard Lucieer (guitar) and Guy Bours (drums). The band's melodic blend of indie rock was heavily influenced by The Beatles and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. They won Holland's number one band battle, the Grote Prijs van Nederland ('Grand Prize of The Netherlands') in 1998, before recording and releasing their only studio album, entitled All Dressed Up. The story of Redivider came to an end as Diederik Nomden - musically a key figure - decided to leave the group in 2001. The remaining band members decided to carry on under a new name: Alamo Race Track. The name change marked a dramatic change in sound and style and, therefore, effectively the birth of a new band. Read more on Last.fm.
