Rebecca is a writer and musician, whose work frequently traverses these categories. With a background primarily as a playwright, she has had work professionally produced in her native Glasgow, New York City and Liverpool. In order to fully explore her interests as an artist, she has also created several cross-disciplinary performances, involving poetry, spoken-word and storytelling as well as music and visuals. She often collaborates with other artists in achieving these aims. As a musician, she plays and mostly composes for the lever (Celtic) harp, which she has played for over fifteen years, having heard it in Scottish folk music as a child. She performs original music and spoken-word pieces, artfully blending traditional and contemporary styles. Her harp and spoken-word work can best be described as modern fairytales, interweaving contemporary, often urban imagery with magical imaginings. She has a holistic approach to her work, developing ideas in the form of text and/or music, with the final manifestation of any given piece not necessarily being visible until the process is underway. She enjoys the journey and encourages all those who see, hear or otherwise experience her work to do the same.
