Brought up on a kibbutz, Ravid first heard the Hang at a festival in Israel and was immediately inspired to play it. He bought his first drum and went to live in the Negev desert, where the stillness and silence provided the perfect environment to master the instrument. Later he travelled to Switzerland where he stayed with the inventors of Hang and evolved his technique and unique way of playing. Whilst playing on a frozen river in Quebec he started to play with gloves and discovered this gave a whole new level of sound quality to his performance. Ravid currently lives in Barcelona He has played in numerous concerts and festivals across Europe and has appeared on stage with the leading lights of Spanish rock. In 2008 Ravid signed to QE Records and recorded his first cd "Ravid Hang", a journey exploring different musical dialogues with an astonishing array of musicians . "Calm Upon You" Ravid's latest cd contains 16 stunning tracks of pure hang music and includes the track "Golden Eye" featured in the new documentary "When Harry Left Hogwarts", by BAFTA award winning documentary maker Morgan Matthews .
