Biography
Pressure Cooker is an original roots reggae, rocksteady and ska band. The nine-piece group was founded in 1997. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Pressure Cooker has performed for a decade, independently releasing five full length albums. Based in Boston, Massachusetts, Pressure Cooker has performed for a decade, independently releasing five full length albums. Fronted by lead singer Craig Akira Fujita and backed by a rhythm section including Zack Brines (keyboards), Dan Hawkins (upright bass), Adam Dobkowski (guitar) and Jeffrey Eckman (drums), and with tenor sax player Michael O'Connor. In 2003, Pressure Cooker added its current horn section, Brian Thomas (trombone), Robin Teague (tenor sax) and Louisa Gelfuso (trumpet) to the lineup.
The band has shared the stage with top artists of reggae music including Burning Spear, Toots & the Maytals, Prince Buster, Derrick Morgan, The Wailers, The Skatalites, Culture, Eek-A-Mouse, Julian Marley & Sister Carol. Pressure Cooker received nominations to the Boston Music Awards in 1999, 2000, and 2004.
