Trained as a trumpeter, it's no surprise that many of his works feature woodwind or brass instruments. Vejvanovsky was Kapellmeister at the Court of Prince-Bishop of Olomouc in Kroměříž. The castle has manuscripts for around 130 works attributed to Vejvanovsky although some of these are disputed because Vejvanovsky boosted his income as a music copyist.
