Nudeswirl was an American alternative and grunge rock band from New Brunswick, New Jersey, formed in 1989 by Shane M. Green, Chris Wargo and drummer Mike Toro. The band released an independent full-length album, "Nudeswirl", in 1989. In 1992, they signed to Megaforce Records and released a second self-titled album the following year. Nudeswirl toured with White Zombie, Danzig, Flotsam and Jetsam, and Mindfunk, and performed on the 1992 Lollapalooza side stage. Music videos for "F Sharp" and "Buffalo" were broadcast on Headbangers Ball, 120 Minutes and Beavis and Butt-Head.
The band's music combined elements of rock, metal, alternative and psychedelic styles, incorporating guitar feedback, wah-wah effects, tribal and teutonic rhythms, rolling basslines and obscured vocals. Nudeswirl disbanded in 1995 following their only major label release. They are considered a cult band, with later musicians and bands such as Tool and Radiohead citing them as an influence. Members have been acknowledged by Perry Farrell, John Frusciante and the Edge.
After the breakup, guitarist Dizzy Cortright joined The Mad Daddies. Shane M. Green performed with Slaprocket and Lord Sterling, while Chris Wargo formed Love Gas and opened Gas Works recording studio. The band's last known performance was a reunion show in the mid-2000s at The Court Tavern in New Brunswick, New Jersey. A video exists of their performance at the Dynamo Open Air Festival in the Netherlands in front of approximately 30,000 people, and an interview with MTV Europe is also recorded.
