Was born in Israel and lived in France for several years. When he was 23 years old, came to Tel-Aviv, and started playing in small pubs. After a while, started working on original songs with his new rock n' roll band: 'Tom Leary'. The band broke up after one concert, and then he created a new one that he called 'Noam and the Salvation Army'.
In 2004, he recorded his first album ('Sweeter Than Blood'), which contains personal stuff. The cd was not a great hit but some songs caught a lot of attention when played on the radio and published in music articles.
One of them, 'A Trip To Poland', discusses the practice of sending high school Israeli students, to extermination camps to ‘bear witness’.
It was the first time ever, that an Hebrew song talked about the memory of the Jewish Holocaust, and yet, as it is still a big taboo in Israel, no many radio stations, dare to play it.
These days, Akotonas is working on a new album, with songs that sound as a mix between old French music and classic rock.
Beside that, he continues his tour with a his full rock- folk band.
with him:
Kfir Bar (piano), Adi Goldenzweig (violin), Galit Vashdi (guitar, mandoline),
Dror Levin (bass), Roy Aji (drums).
Influences:
Jacques Brel, Serge Gainsbourg,
Pink Floyd, Neil Young, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Frank Zappa
David Bowie, The Who, Joy Division, Bent, Air, The Clash and Nirvana.
