Biography
Nick Valensi is the lead guitarist in New York rock band The Strokes. Born 16th January 1981, Valensi learnt guitar from an early age (receiving one from his father at the age of five). During his time at Dwight High School he met future bandmates Julian Casablancas and Fabrizio Moretti. Nick Valensi is the lead guitarist in New York rock band The Strokes. Born 16th January 1981, Valensi learnt guitar from an early age (receiving one from his father at the age of five). During his time at Dwight High School he met future bandmates Julian Casablancas and Fabrizio Moretti. The boys formed The Strokes with Nikolai Fraiture and Albert Hammond, Jr. completing the lineup.
Valensi did not release any solo albums or singles yet, but he has collaborated with such artists as Devendra Banhart, Regina Spektor and Sia. He occasionally performs live under his own name, for example at the George Harrison tribute night, 'George Fest' in 2014.
Valensi is a gifted guitarist, his skill heard on such songs as The Modern Age, 12:51, Juicebox, Whatever Happened and New York City Cops. He also plays mellotron on First Impression Of Earth track Ask Me Anything
In 2005, Epiphone released a signature model of his guitar, the Elitist Nick Valensi Riviera P-94 guitar.
Nick has been described as a man fully aware of his own good looks, the fighter of the band and defintely the most opinionated.
