Modern Day Citizen was formed in a finnish town called Turku in 2009. The band released their debut demo titled "I" in 2010. Songs of the first demo got some airplay on finnish rock radios and the opening song "Marrow" eventually took the band to perform in the finals of Radio Rock's Starba 2010 competition for unsigned bands. Later that year, MDC was chosen for the best unsigned act of 2010 by a radio host of YleX, another finnish nationwide station. In the spring of 2011 MDC released their second demo-EP called "Dive" and started writing material for their debut full lenght album From the Shell, which was released through Secret Entertainment in August 2012.
