Majella Murphy is a singer songwriter, originally from Kilkenny, in the South East of Ireland. She is the first artist worldwide to have her entire album "Brave New World" launched on a mobile phone (Sony Ericsson). Her amazing voice belies her little five foot 2" frame, and with a mixture of soaring lyrics and sensitive delivery she wins the listener over from the first bar. Majella regularly gigs around Ireland and has built a very strong fan base up for herself. She is self taught on guitar, harmonica, mandolin, banjo and the boudhrán. She skateboards and bmx rides nearly everywhere and for the launch of her album in front of over 1500 people with National tv and radio there to hear, she arrived on her longboard with her guitar slung over her back. Asked if this was a publicity stunt she replied, "It's cheaper than public transport, quicker than public transport, and saves on the gym". Majella has been asked by two different model agencies to model for them also, but has refused as music is her love, and does not wish to be seen as the "artist/model". She also has held successful art exhibitions in her native Kilkenny and also Cork over the years, but says that doing a lot of art is too solitary for her, so she concentrates on her music. "I love being with people" she says. "Sometimes with painting I get a little lost in my head and it takes a while to recover. When I sing and play I can feel the hair on the back of other peoples' necks stand up, I can feel their hearts, so that's where I belong".
