From the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles comes singer-songwriter Lou Wolfe, an acoustic rocker who has created a unique sound within the genre. Troubled yet hopeful, he sings with a voice that howls with emotion and songs reminiscent of artists such as Chris Cornell, Pearl Jam, and Jeff Buckley. Learning music from an early age, he started on clarinet and saxophone, playing in classical, jazz, and blues groups. However it was when he started writing popular sounding material that knew that his future was in music. Studying at CSUN to earn a BA in Music Industry Studies, he was able to have a solid classical/jazz background and still work towards writing rock and pop tunes. Now, after having played in several bands over the past decade, recording on 3 separate albums, and his most recent project SWALLOW (www.myspace.com/swallowband) is on hiatus, he has accumulated a wealth of original material that is being translated onto acoustic guitar. In recent years, he has focused his sound to writing solid rock grooves with pop sensibilities and meaningful lyrics. Occasionally known to let loose and write heavier rock influenced by the punk movement of the 80s, his songs usually encompass more tuneful chord-based ideas, sung over by melodic vocal lines. Influences on his sound mostly include Alternative groups from the early 90s and later, including Pearl Jam, the Foo Fighters and Chris Cornell. Lyrically, he draws upon all aspects of his life, including his passion for self-reflection and his desire for things to change. He brings an honest approach to his songs which he now plays more simply acoustic, but still as heavy as they would be plugged in. Unplugged and stripped down, he brings a unique group of songs to the music industry and to the world.
