Lostaura are an Indie-rock band about to release their debut mini album ‘The Hiding Place’ featuring 6 tracks produced by The Animal Farm. Described by BBC Southern Counties as having ‘absolutely towering songs’, Lostaura have been touted as one of the bands to look out for in 2010 by BBC Introducing. Lostaura formed in 2007 and have toured across the South East with other buzz bands like Band of Skulls, The Airbourne Toxic Event and Everything Everything, buildinga strong following and garnering enthusiastic radio support from BBC Essex, BBC Southern Counties, BBC 6 Music and XFM. The name 'Lostaura' comes from Princess Aura running away with Flash Gordon. At the start of ‘Flash’by Queen you hear the phrase 'Im lost Aura.' If the band's music was a T-Shirt it would come in one size: stadium sized. Lead by the piano playing extrovert frontman Dave McCormack the band combine pounding drums and layered guitars echoing in swathes of reverb to create an original blend of sonic chaos and hooks that will not let go. They live in the same flat in Brighton except for drummer Essex who lives... er... in Essex. His Mum, by the way, used to play guitars and Keyboards in the same band as Bonnie Tyler.. The rest of the boys are no musical slouches either, with Grade 8s splattered all over their CVs. But nothing tops frontman Dave McCormack's achievement of winning a southern Top Of The Tots competition as a baby. Says Dave: But I cried through the national finals and didn’t go on stage as I didn’t want to sell out to the commercial wagon.. Bruno Brooks was livid.” The band work closely with Animal Clothing, Oxfam and Cancer Research. Read more on Last.fm.
