Formed in Telford, Shropshire, LF’s (formally known as Lady Fortune) journey begins at the Birmingham NIA during a chance meeting at a Morrissey concert, where then strangers Nick Robinson (vocals and guitar) and Lyndon Henry Thompson (drums) caught the same sweat drenched shirt thrown into the audience by Morrissey, and refused to let go. Eventually ejected for fighting, Nick and Lyndon realised they shared the same hometown and a desire to be in a band. Recruiting Paul Pugh (bass) completed the LF lineup, the Telford trio formed a band influenced by sleazy British pop music (Pulp, Elastica, 80's Bowie, Blur) that people could dance to. The trio began rehearsing and writing together, obsessed with combining 90's British guitar sounds with catchy hooks and Supergrass esque falsetto backing vocals to create what they have called Sleaze Pop. LF took their take on British pop to Foel Studio recording 4 tracks, released online as a Sleaze Pop Sample. Not only receiving praise from independent zines and blogs, Trying To Get Excited collected LF's first national radio play on BBC 6Music via Tom Robinson.
