Klak Tik is the brain child of Soren Bonke, a singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist hailing from the outskirts of Copenhagen. With the help of a former band-mate, a stray kiwi and some tolerant neighbours, Klak Tik create genre-dodging experimental/orchestral/alternative folk music.
Following on from the release of their debut Ep ‘Collecting Samples’ in early 2009, the band have spent the summer months at their East London home writing and producing their new album ‘Must We Find A Winner’. As becomes rapidly apparent, their independent approach has, rather than restricted, allowed the band the freedom/time to explore the possibilities and potential of a multi-tracking environment, with the creative and technical faculty of Soren (who also plays the vast majority of strings and brass on the album!) and the group providing for a remarkable end-product.
The result is songs that, though able to survive as the sparse folk tunes of their musical beginnings, are given breadth to take their rightful place as pseudo-orchestral pieces, intersecting melodies being caressed, and sometimes coerced, into place, which in turn write the rhythms and are followed by harmony lines that refuse to obey convention.
In concert, Klak Tik utilise the considerable talents of their musical cohorts (drums, brass and strings) to form an 8-piece group who tangibly render the symphonic approach and intricate arrangements of their recorded pieces to create an engaging live show. When appropriate, the songs are performed in their simplest incarnation with dual vocals sitting atop guitar, banjo and double bass, granting the listener an endoscopic view of the Klak Tik world. Read more on Last.fm.
