KAT HENNESSY is a one-woman, unsigned electronic act, who seeks to inspire and induce smiles in her listeners. The artist, who is based in Trinidad and Tobago, enjoys creating ‘refreshing’ and ‘calmingly adorable’ experimental electronic music, and is always aiming to innovate and improve her style. Kat Hennessy is the musical alias of Sherezz ‘Rezzi’ Grant. Sherezz’ interest in composing electronic music began in 2006 at the age of 17. Her sudden interest in creating original ‘StepMixes’ for a free dance game, Stepmania, managed to refuel her passion for composing, except this time, she would not be composing classical pieces. At that time, she was rather interested in the ‘harder’ and ‘darker’ side of electronic music, but found that interest waning as she sought to develop more expressive electronic music. In October 2007, Sherezz created her new musical identity that was meant to be reflective of her appreciation for classical music, having learnt to play the piano since the age of five. Her earliest style was very experimental with slight trip-hop/hip hop influence, but many other influences, such as jazz music, 80s music, and even astronomy and science fiction slowly nestled into her later work. While she has been working on a new album, Kat Hennessy has continued to experiment and innovate with her music, but hopes to exude more of the emotional and romantic side to her. She says, “there's something about emotional music that makes it linger on inside you, that, once it touches you, you won't ever forget it.
