Juan Perro is a stage name and a musical project of former Radio Futura frontman Santiago Auserón (born Santiago Auserón Marruedo on July 25, 1954 in Zaragoza, Spain).
After disbanding Radio Futura in 1992, Santiago took on a new musical direction, fusing classic rock, blues, jazz and traditional Cuban music, which has been his passion and a topic for a research since 1984. After collaborating with Kiko Veneno in a gig called Kiko Veneno y Juan Perro Vienen Dando el Cante, the debut album, Raíces al Viento, recorded in Havana, Cuba, was released in 1995. The follow-up, La Huella Sonora, was released in 1997. Juan Perro was featured on De Granada a la Luna, a musical tribute to a famous Spanish poet and dramatist Federico García Lorca, and on Red Hot + Latin: Silencio = Muerte, a compilation by Red Hot Organization.
Juan Perro collaborated with many artists, such as Compay Segundo, Kiko Veneno, Raimundo Amador, La Barbería del Sur, Malevaje, Pau Riba, Carlos Cano, Pancho Amat, Guerrilla Gorila, Marina Rossell, and also produced Luis Auserón's (Santiago's younger brother and ex-Radio Futura bandmate) solo album, El Caos y el Orden, which was released in 1997. Read more on Last.fm.
