Jimmy RS was born James Lewis on April 3rd, 1991 in Milwaukee, WI. In his years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin from 1991-2001, Jimmy had little exposure to music. However, once he moved to Memphis, his first artist he paid attention to was 50 Cent. From there it was Kanye West and "The College Dropout." This might have been the most influential cd to Jimmy personally, however; it didn't reflect in his earlier music when he started rapping in 2005 thanks to the encouragement of friend and rapper Morris Lofton aka Killer Fame. So throughout the first half of his high school career, he falsely rapped from the persona of a 'gangster'. However, this wasn't true to him and for the next two years he struggled to find himself musically. However, around this time, he started listening to Wale and Kid Cudi and found that it was best to be himself. So in the summer of 2009, he dropped the Self Discovery mixtape, which was generally well-received by listeners. So for now, Jimmy says that he's honing his skills and trying to get a bigger buzz.
Musically, Jimmy cites his influences as Wale, KiD CuDi, Kanye West, Big Sean, Jay-Z, and ATCQ. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
