"I Calnti" is a folk band born in Ugento in 1998 thanks to the passion for yhe "tanbureddhru" of five young descendants of the Colittis family, a family with strong ties with ancient musical tradition of the southern Salento peasant culture. The band rediscovers the ancient sounds and melodies, passed down through generations from father to son, with the same love and enthusiasm of their ancestors.Today, as in the past, "I Calanti" plays its music on traditional hand made instruments, like the characteristic "tamburrello", produced by the local handcraft masters out of simple materials. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/I+Calanti">Read more on Last.fm</a>.
