Hexedene was a brief side-project initially formed in the United Kingdom that featured the talents of two separate acts:
* Jonathan Sharp (New Mind, Bio-Tek, Cyber-Tec Project, Hyperdex-1-sect) handled programming and guitars
* Katie Helsby did vocals
* Ian Palmer was also on guitars
Hexedene combined angelic, female vocals and heavy rock guitars to ride the crest of two trends: heavenly voices and electro-industrial crossover.
This initial line-up worked on the initial release from 1995-97. The debut album, Choking on Lilies came out in 1998 on California-based Re-Constriction Records (a Cargo sub-label). The album received good response in both the US and Europe, being especially popular in Germany.
They're mix of female vocals over harsh guitars and electro-industrial synths was similar to several of their labelmates like Waiting for God (ex-Moex), and Purr Machine.
Shortly afterwards, Katie and Ian left the project when their other band "Streem" was signed by Roadrunner. They released an album called "Floodmark" as well as a CD-Single called "Coming Down."
Jonathan Sharp found another vocalist and released at least one more album under the Hexedene name. At the time, he was also very active releasing music under numerous other monikers, as well as producing other artists. Read more on Last.fm.
