Halaka is an American experimental noise rock band that originated in the early 1980s. They have independently released nearly 40 albums in various formats and through various channels. Although they've gone through various member changes, since the mid 1990s the group has consisted of a regular core of members along with a rotating cast of others who quickly become fed up with the general malaise and bad smell.
At its heart, Halaka is Sacky Jamboree, Madhog, Fanch Taylor, and *. All members play all instruments, though in live performance most often Sacky plays drums and sings, Madhog plays electric and acoustic guitar and sings, Fanch plays bass guitar and keyboards and sings, and * uses a pile of broken radios, tape players, record players, and toys, and sings. The band originally formed in the early 80s from a short-lived punk band called Motherlode.
Halaka releases music on CDR, cassette, and online. In the past they've also released on vinyl and standard CD. They release music through the Halaka label and the Pile Records label.
