Group fronted by Sedric Johnson (b. Alabama), currently resident in California. The leader of the 100-strong Long Beach Choir, he was spotted at a soul revue by Englishman Will Mount, who was on the lookout for a singer. After an impromptu performance Will Mount, who together with producer/remixer Rollo forms the musician team behind Gloworm, was won over. They anchored Johnson's gospel inspired vocals to a club beat to produce memorable records like Lift My Cup and Carry Me Home, both based on traditional songs. The result was reviewed as ‘spiritual hard house’, and widely admired. I Lift My Cup was unveiled on Hooj Tunes at the end of 1992, before the group switched to Go!
