Germano Mathias is the personification of São Paulo's samba. His fellows thought his european name quite weird for a sambista. Irreparably fanatic for his football team (Corinthians Paulista), Germano is pure elegance. His most ravishing hit was 'Guarde a Sandália Dela' (Keep Her Sandal). Being a shoeshine boy, Germano always played the can of grease like no other (he also mastered the frying pan). When interpreting Zé Kéti's sambas, Germano proved to be one of the greatests. In 1978, recorded the album “Antologia do Samba-Choro” together with Gilberto Gil. Most of his albuns were released in the 1950's - "Em Continência ao Samba", 1958, is very probably his masterpiece. Acted in a couple of movies, like “O Preço de Vitória” (The Price of Victory) e “Quem Roubou Meu Samba” (Who Stole My Samba).
