Gardening at Night was born in some foggy night in 2006, in front of some Guinness in a pub somewhere in Turin, northern Italy. Three of their four original members were part of a band called Squirrel, which used to play pop-rock and tour in or near Turin, or even far. They also recorded and EP. Other musicians came from two bands playing in Turin (Green Woodpecker and Somewhere Between, which also recorded EPs and LPs). Gardening at Night, since 2006, have been working hard and they did several rehearsal between the pines and the oaks of the hills near the city (but, above all, between amplifiers and christmast lights in a big basement full of carpets) and nowadays their line up is Michele Sarda (voice, jaguar guitar, takamine guitar), Daniele Molino (bass), Enrico Viarengo (back vocals, rickebacker guitar), Marcello Oliviero (drums) and Marco Gottero (back vocals, telecaster guitar). In their songs sometimes appear also mandolins, pianos, xylophones or some other weird stuff. Act Surprised EP is their first album, it contains 3 songs and it’s been recorded in the summer of 2009, produced and mastered by Eugenio Mazzetto at Casaluce Rec. in Rivarolo Canavese. It has been printed in one thousand copies and now the band is doing some gigs to support the release of the record. Gardening at Night also supported the Manchester-based band Lowline, in their first italian tour, for the gigs in Piozzo and Verbania. They also appeared in the Torino Film Festival 2009 as composers of the original soundtrack for “Non Ora, Non Qui” (Not Now, Not Here), a short movie (made by Luca Vigliani) who earned the participation at the festival. Gardening at Night have also a website, which is www.gardeningatnight.it, or you can find them on their myspace at www.myspace.com/gardeningband. Read more on Last.fm.
