Biography

Gallows Cool were a Guildford based alternative rock band, active around the start of the 21st century. Starting out as a four-piece, they stripped down to a three-piece after the acrimonious departure of their first singer. The remaining members (Richard Benson, Guitar and Vocals; Matthew Perry, Bass; Pete Coles, Drums) practised weekly in Matt's mum's garage. The drummer from Rachel Stamp's cousin once turned up and knocked on the door of the garage. <a href="https://www.last.fm/music/Gallows+...Read more on Last.fm

He came in for a bit and listened to some songs. Then he left. After one gig, in Matt's lounge when his parents were away (attended by around 20 people), letters from the council about noise and one visit from the police, the band imploded when Matt went to university. All that survives are two songs, Cold and Spiritually Anarchic. Although extremely juvenile, these are documents of a moment in history of what was then a vibrant Guildford scene featuring the likes of Hundred Reasons, Reuben and Redwood. Read more on Last.fm.
